CONFIDENTIALITY

Age to Age assist clients to understand their issues and concerns in order to enhance self-growth, personal effectiveness, interpersonal relations, life adjustments, spiritual growth, and mental health. This may involve developing insight into, and/or learning to prevent and/or eliminate maladaptive behaviour or symptoms, in addition to the enhancement and strengthening of healthy coping strategies and functional relationships with
self and others.

We are here to make your counselling session a relaxing experience. We also endeavour to create a safe, secure and confidential environment, enabling openness and ease of disclosure of what can be delicate, sensitive and often painful issues. Confidentiality is taken very seriously by professional counsellors and psychotherapists and everything that is discussed is kept in the strictest confidence. There are couple of exceptions to this rule which will be discussed during your initial session.

FAQs

Are your fees covered by OHIP?

While psychotherapy and social work are regulated health professions in Ontario, unfortunately they are not covered under OHIP. The majority of extended health benefits/employer benefits, however, do cover psychotherapy and social work services (typically in your health and dental insurance package).

We encourage you to speak with your insurance provider about counselling services provided by a registered social worker and psychotherapist to determine your eligibility and approved rates of coverage.

Furthermore, as of 2012 psychotherapy services provided by registered social workers are now recognized as an income tax deductible medical expense by Revenue Canada.

What are your fees for service?

The fee per therapy session is based on the standard rates for social workers and psychotherapists in Toronto, which tend to range between $100 and $250 per session depending on the therapist's education and experience.

Fees are payable at the beginning or end of each session, unless we make other arrangements.

Requests for additional documentation or reports are charged at our usual hourly rate.

Sliding scale fees

Due to the high demand for our services, we do not offer sliding scale at this time. We can refer you to agencies that do!

What if I need to cancel an appointment?

We require a full 24 hours notice for the cancellation of an appointment. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged the full rate of the session regardless of the reason, including for no-shows.

Are your services confidential?

Confidentiality is very important to us. It is paramount that you feel like you are able to talk openly and honestly in our therapy sessions knowing that all information discussed will be kept private.

Our professional code of ethics, under the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, clearly defines that all information you share with us is confidential and will not be communicated, directly or indirectly, to anyone without your informed and written consent.

The law states that there are rare exceptions to this rule, which we will discuss during the initial consultation.

Although therapy sessions will be kept confidential, we do not object to you revealing anything that we have discussed in therapy to anyone you want.
